one month … in two parts

Today marks the one-month birthday of Walking Forward's launch into this world. It is still surreal to me that the little book I spent so many months writing is living and breathing in the wild.

As I reflect back on one month I wanted to share some lessons I've learned as well as nuggets that might help you in life. This week is part 1 and next week I will share part 2 ... so keep an eye out!

Lesson #1

Books last longer than a social media post. I had been so focused on a March 28th launch that I kinda thought if Walking Forward didn't take off right away it would be a failure. Well I was wrong! Not only did it do well when it launched it continues to have an impact.

Nugget ... life doesn't happen in one short event. Books, like any relationship, last when they are nurtured and shared on an ongoing basis.

Lesson #2

Walking Forward appeals to a broader audience than I could have ever envisioned. I am hearing from people with young families that some of the strategies are helpful to them. I am also hearing from people at transition points in life that the stories and tools are helpful to navigate change in their lives.

Nugget ... you never know when you share something who it will help. If it impacts just one person you have made a difference.

Lesson #3

Writing, publishing and launching a book is most definitely NOT a solo journey. I couldn't have done it without the help of my publisher, editors, designers, other authors, pre-readers and everyone else who held a hand out to help me. And, I most definitely couldn't have done it without the support of my friends and family who have shown up for me in a major way.

Nugget ... People get excited to support your big goals in life. Keep those peeps close - they are the relationships you want to nurture.

Lesson #4

Even when you feel alone there are always people out there willing to show up and help you. Someone to listen, answer your text, your DM or your phone call. It just takes that first step to ask for help.

Nugget ... get out of my head and ask for help. It's there. It always is.

Lesson #5

I love talking habits, mindset and life transitions with others. Between the workshops, podcasts and speaking events that have happened in the past few months I am primed and ready to keep sharing.

Nugget ... when you get your groove on you will know. Act on it. Keep the momentum going.

After reading the first five lessons ... anything you could apply in your own life?

Stay tuned for more things I've learned since Walking Forward launched!

PS - I regularly share essays and other notes you might like. I would love it if you took a minute to subscribe for more.
